The AGK at the modell-hobby-spiel 2008 fair in Leipzig

For the first time in the year 2008, the AGK was present with its own booth on the 'modell-hobby-spiel' exhibition in Leipzig. Our board member Heiko Schinke presented the publications of the AGK. He also demonstrated our card modell database and presented hot-off-the-press reprints of historic card models. There was a huge interest for the reprint of the oldest known card model, a sundial crucifix from the year 1529. Members of the AGK found this card model in the German National Museum in Nürnberg. More detailed information about the crucifix can be found in volume 4 of our publication series. "History of cardboard modelling" (look at excerpt).
The most successfully card model was not even an historic one, but a small marble run made of cardboard. Our member Harro Reimer has designed this card model, and several hundred copies from this model were given away for free. What a fun for the young and the young at heart! Because of the great interest in the marble run we made it available in the download area of our website.
In the photos you can see some Impressions from the exhibition both, as well as a child's bright eyes. For a larger view please click the picture (if JavaScript is activated in your web browser there will be a slide show).
