Help - List views

Here is an description of the list views available in the card model database. Please note

  • "all" means, of course, "all models entered into the database".
  • Numbers next to images show how many images are available (in total, including the image shown in the list).
  • The colored background of model entries signals the main category this model belongs to: architecture = orange, land vehicles = green, aerospace = yellow, ships = blue, mechanical models/automata = brown, other = grey.
  • Special information available in the detail views: The ID is the internal index number of this model in our database. The color of the "quality" circle tells you how complete the model data are (in order if increasing quality: white - red - orange - yellow - light green - dark green). "pictures" tells you the number images available for this model.

Lists of Designers

This list shows, in alphabetical order, all designers, graphics designers, text authors etc. who are present in the database. Two separate lists are available: In one of them shows only persons with more than 10 models to their credit, the other list shows all.

List of Publishers

Because of the large number of publishers in the database we split this list into two views: One for German publishers (Bundesrepublik, ex GDR and former German territories before 1945), and one for all other countries. Entries are sorted alphabetically by country and name. Two separate lists are available: In one of them shows only publishers with more than 10 models to their credit, the other list shows all.
To the left of each entry you see some buttons:
- Show detail information about this publisher (address, domain, historical notes etc.)
- Edit this detail information
- Search for a specific model by this publisher
- List of all models by this publisher (model information plus cover image, if any) This is the only list view you can see without logging in.
- List of all models by this publisher, configurable overview list
- List of all models by this publisher; shows only the cover sheets (and omits models without cover sheet image)
- Map of the original buildings for the architectural models of this publisher

List of publication years

This is a list of all years in which card models were published. If the year of publication is not known exactly, the model entry will be assigned a "primary" publication year which will be used for this list. With the button you can search for a specific model from that year (if you are logged in). shows a list of all models from that year (the number next to the button indicates the number of models you will see in that list).

List of categories

The list is sorted by main category: architecture, vehicles, aerospace, ships, mechanical models/automata, other. Each main category has a distinct color background) and offers sub-categories to drill down to a specific group of models you are looking for. With the button you can search for a specific model in that category (if you are logged in). shows a list of all models in that category (the number next to the button indicates the number of models you will see in that list).

List of scales

Sorted by main category (architecture, vehicles, aerospace, ships, mechanical models/automata, other) this page lists all scales used for models of that category. shows a list of all models with that category and scale. In addition, at the top of the page you can say whether you want to look for an exact scale or for a range of scales.

List of model series

Many publishers offer models belonging to a model series, or they offer model series that correspond to a certain level of difficulty. Here you find a list of all model series, sorted by the name of the series. shows a list of all models in that series.

Other list views

The main menu of the database offers many other list views (like printing technology, ISBN etc.). Some of these lists are only available if you are logged in.

Overview list of models

The button always sends you to this type of list. If there are more than 20 hits, the list will be split into several pages (you can adjust that number in the "No. of card models per page" filter to the left of the page). Depending on the current function, 2 more sub-menus may be available:

  • to narrow down or change the items shown (e. g. in the lists of designers and publishers)
  • the change the type of list (detailed list, configurable list, cover images)

The detailed list gives (as far as known for each model) the ordering no., magazine/volume no., year of publication, all titles and its publisher(s). The following additional functions are only available if you are logged in:
- View detailed information about the model (e. g. designer, format, built model, images)
- Edit this detail information
- Mark the model as "owned by you". This enables you to build you personal "virtual collection"; it sets a marker in the database indicating that you own this model. You can restrict your views to the models you marked by setting the Only your own card models filter on the database pages.
- Remember this model. If you have "remembered" at least 2 models you can show them in a table view to compare them (the Compare models on the database start page).
- Search for models with a similar name.
