The ship shown here was converted from a "River Class" frigate into a luxury yacht in the early 1950s by Aristoteles Sokrates Onassis, a Greek shipowner. His widow later donated it to the Greek state and after further conversions the ship still sails under the Maltese flag as the "Christina O".
As "Christina", the ship was almost 100 m long and had a displacement of 2250 tons. It was extravagantly furnished.
The model sheet was published by J.F.Schreiber-Verlag in 1971 under the number JFS 71647 in the scale 1:200, constructed very true to scale and true to the original by Hubert Siegmund. In this respect, this construction differs significantly from the model of the same name JFS 07950/53 with the identical scale 1:200 from 1958.
The hull is a shell construction with a few transverse frames and no central frame. After installing the front frame, the sleek shape of the hull is clearly visible. After installing the deck, which uses the inner bulwark as adhesive tabs, a torsion-resistant hull is created.
A detailed article by Axel Huppers about the ship, its history and, above all, the differently constructed model sheets has been published in Issue 24 of the series "On the History of Cardboard Model Making".
